Violence in Manipur continues to escalate following the recovery of six bodies, with angry protesters taking to the streets as ethnic tensions between the Kukis and Meiteis reach a boiling point. In response, the state government has urged the central government to withdraw the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), which was reimposed on November 14, 2024, in six violence-hit regions of the state. These areas include Sekmai, Lamsang, Lamlai, Moirang, Leimakhong, and Jiribam. However, the reimposition of AFSPA is believed to have worsened the situation, leading protesters to target and ransack the homes of ministers and several MLAs. Watch for latest updates.
