Crisis in PoJK: Deforestation devastates environment and livelihoods

The lush forests of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir are disappearing, leaving behind a trail of environmental and economic devastation. Once heavily forested, the region now has as little as 10% forest cover. While a ban on tree cutting is in effect, locals who rely on the forests for fuel are left struggling to meet their basic needs.
