Microsoft takes on Nvidia, Intel, Google and Amazon with AI, security chips for data centres

At Ignite 2024, Microsoft unveiled two custom-designed chips to bolster its data center capabilities. An Azure Integrated HSM chip will enhance security for encryption keys, while a new DPU optimizes cloud storage processing, using less power and delivering higher performance. These advancements, along with a new liquid cooling system, aim to support demanding AI workloads and bolster Microsoft's competitive edge.
