Published: July 3, 2024 8:37 PM IST By : There will be total of four dry days in Delhi during the July-September period on the occasions of religious festivals and Independence Day, the Delhi government has announced. In an order issued Tuesday by the city’s excise department, all liquor shops in the national capital will remain shut on these four days. As per the order, Muharram (July 17), Independence Day (August 15), Janmashtami (August 26), and Eid-e-Milad (September 16), have been declared dry days in the city during which the sale, purchase, and consumption of liquor will be deemed a punishable offence under the law. All liquor stores in the national capital will remain shut on these days, besides all other excise licensees, including hotels, clubs, restro-bars as well as other retail and wholesale operations will be closed on the Independence Day, the order stated. However, as per the order, there will be no restriction on serving liquor to the guests of hotels having L-15 and L-15F licenses. Notably, Delhi observed five dry days during the previous quarter of 2024 (April-June). The dry days were observed on April 11, 17 and 21, May 23 and on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha (Bakrid) on June 17.
