AFSPA extended in Manipur for six more months

The government has extended the AFSPA in Manipur for another six months starting from October 1. This excludes 19 police station areas in the Imphal valley and a region near Assam. The state governor approved this extension due to ongoing security concerns without a detailed ground assessment. The AFSPA provides the armed forces with extensive operational powers.
