India 'a buzzword' at UNGA79; World leaders back permanent UN Security Council seat for New Delhi

The 79th United Nations General Assembly saw increasing calls for reforming the UN Security Council. Leaders from France, Russia, the US, UK, and Portugal endorsed India's permanent membership, along with Brazil and at least one African nation. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasised the need for better representation of developing countries. The theme for this session was global unity for peace, sustainable development, and human dignity.
