Iran amputates fingers of two men convicted of theft: NGOs

Iranian authorities amputated the fingers of two Kurdish men convicted of theft in Urmia, drawing sharp condemnation from human rights groups. The amputation, conducted via guillotine, was criticized as a violation of international laws against torture. Despite being legal under sharia law in Iran, such punishments have become less frequent in recent years.
