Mr Loverman: Lennie James-Starerr Coming-Out Saga Is Queerly Cold

BBC1’s Mr Loverman, in which the veteran actor Lennie James plays a man who comes out of the closet at 70, shattering his decades of marital life, the mood is never downbeat. The writers are determined to keep the gay angle from getting unpleasant. The only ugly scene is created when Barry’s lover’s wife catches them together.
