Watch: Rs 50,000 Cash Found Stashed In Spare Tyre In Poll-Bound Jharkhand
Income Tax department in Jharkhand made a huge recovery of cash during the ongoing assembly polls in the state. During an inspection, the authorities found cash worth Rs 50,000 stuffed in a spare tyre of a vehicle. The recovery was made during an inspection under the Deori police station limits near the Jharkhand-Bihar border in Girdih district, reported NDTV. Sharing a video of the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Godda lashed out at the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and its ally Congress for "corruption" in the state. In the video, the officials are seen taking several bundles of cash out of the tyre through a narrow cut. "Today, the income tax department and @ECISVEEP seized 50 lakhs from JMM to influence the elections in Giridih. Look at the Jugaad of Congress and JMM," he wrote. BJP Jharkhand President Babulal Marandi reshared the video alleging the Congress and JMM of trying to influence the election with "money power". The recovery of cash was made a day after the first phase of voting was concluded in the state. 64.86 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm in the Wednesday polls that took place for 43 of the 81 assembly seats. The second phase of voting for the remaining seats will take place on November 20 while the votes will be counted on November 23 along with voting in Maharashtra.
