Using his extraordinary powers, he defeated not only Indra but many other gods as well, and he began ruling over Indraloka. To end his tyranny, all the gods went to Lord Shiva for help. Lord Shiva suggested that they seek the assistance of Lord Vishnu, the ruler of the three worlds.Lord Vishnu decided to help the gods and defeat the demon Mura. He, along with the other gods, arrived at the city of Chandravati, which was under Mura's rule. On one side stood Lord Vishnu, and on the other, the demon Mura, eager for battle with his entire army. According to the myth, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra and divine mace to destroy Mura's entire army, but all of his weapons proved ineffective against Mura's powers. Neither his Sudarshan Chakra nor his mace could decapitate Mura or defeat him. After a long battle with weapons, Lord Vishnu and Mura engaged in a hand-to-hand combat (Malla Yuddha), where no weapons were used, and the fight continued for 10,000 years without a conclusion. Seeing no end to the battle, Lord Vishnu decided to take a break and went to the Hemavati Cave in Badrikashram for rest. The demon Mura followed Lord Vishnu to Badrikashram and found him sleeping. She was majestic, strong, and equipped with all kinds of weapons to protect Lord Vishnu. This divine woman defeated Mura in battle and, placing her foot on his chest, decapitated him.The gods praised her extraordinary power. When Lord Vishnu awoke, he did not recognize her and asked her to introduce herself. The woman revealed that she was Lord Vishnu's energy, born from his yogic power. Lord Vishnu was extremely pleased and asked her to grant a boon for this great act.The woman requested, "Please grant me the power that will destroy all the sins of those who observe the Ekadashi fast and lead them to liberation. Bless me to be the most important and best of all sacred places. Grant me the boon that I can bestow upon my devotees the blessings of righteousness, wealth, and liberation."Lord Vishnu granted her the boon and said, "You were born on Ekadashi, and so you will be known as Ekadashi in all the worlds. You will be worshipped not only by humans but also by the gods in all ages. Nothing pleases me more than the observance of the Ekadashi fast. Those who observe it will enjoy all worldly pleasures and, at the time of their death, attain liberation."[Disclaimer: The content of this article is based solely on beliefs, and should be taken as general guidance.
