Parliament Winter Session: Kiren Rijiju Highlights Key Topics for Session | ABP News
From today, members of the Lok Sabha can use digital pens and tablets to mark their attendance during the Winter Session of Parliament. This initiative, led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, is part of efforts to make the Parliament paperless. Electronic tablets have been provided at four counters in the Lok Sabha Chamber Lobby, where MPs can digitally register their attendance. To do so, MPs must first select their names from a dropdown menu on the tablet, then sign using the digital pen and press the 'Submit' button. Engineers from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will be present at each counter to provide technical assistance. While physical registers will still be available, MPs are encouraged to prioritize digital methods. Marking attendance is crucial for MPs to claim their daily allowance during the session. Previously, attendance was recorded through a mobile app. This digital initiative aims to simplify the process and reduce paper usage in Parliament. The Winter Session of Parliament will continue until December 20, with 16 bills listed for discussion and consideration, including the Waqf Amendment Bill. Notably, there will be no sittings in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha on November 26 in observance of Constitution Day, which commemorates the importance and anniversary of the Indian Constitution.
