Driving The Rolls Royce Drophead Which Akash Ambani Also Owns

Driving a Rolls Royce is a different experience because it is actually quite different from other luxury cars. It really is not about the gadgets or the features but the sheer size and the huge power that it comes with it. As far cars are concerned this Rolls Royce is perhaps the most extreme one because the Drophead or the convertible version of the Phantom was aimed at the wealthiest of the world. Here was a convertible version of the huge luxury sedan and was aimed at high-net worth buyers. It was a rare Rolls Royce since it was more of a weekend car. I had once the opportunity to drive it and it was a nervous experience because the Drophead is huge being a convertible Rolls Royce and has immense presence. That massive grille and the Rolls Royce mascot is enough to grant it a lot of attention but the yacht-like deck and the interior makes it like an expensive club. The interior is not filled with gadgets as instead you simply drive with minimal inputs as the V12 engine upfront moves along. The Drophead is a 3 tonne vehicle and feels so behind the wheel but it is also easy to drive. What stood out was the ride quality as it simply floats like a yacht but it is a handful to drive across narrow roads while being built for vast empty roads to cruise on. Then you get rear facing suicide doors as well which adds to the drama. The Drophead isn't built anymore but it is a rare car with being a massive V12 convertible Rolls Royce while the Indian market only had a handful of these cars with owners like Akash Ambani. Needless to say, the price also matched up to the size with the Drophead costing nearly Rs 10 crore a few years back!
