Trump’s pick for NIH Jay Bhattacharya has worked on key India-specific research

Indian-American Stanford professor Jay Bhattacharya, who was recently appointed as the NIH director by President-elect Trump, has conducted research on issues relevant to India, such as the overuse of antibiotics and its role in causing antibiotic resistance. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he wrote op-eds in Indian newspapers, urged the government to prioritise the elderly population, who had not been previously infected, for vaccination.
