Amritpal Singh expected to take oath as MP on July 5: Sarabjit Singh Khalsa

BATHINDA: Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa has said that his Khadoor Sahib counterpat MP Amritpal Singh is expected to take oath on July 5 at Lok Sabha Speaker’ chamber. Khalsa said that Speaker’ office will soon sent the communication to appropriate authorities to ensure Amritpal Singh, who is lodged at Dibrugarh central jail under the National Security Act (NSA) is brought to Delhi. Sarabjit revealed it after meeting the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at his residence in Delhi on Wednesday morning. Sarabjit Singh, who is the son of Beant Singh, one of the assassins of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, had won from Faridkot parliamentary constituency as an independent candidate. Amritpal Singh, who heads the Waris Punjab De outfit, had won from Khadoor Sahib parliamentary constituency with the biggest margin in Punjab at about 1.97 lakh votes while lodged in the jail. His election campaign was run by the family members and representatives of various Panthik organisations. Now, three accomplices of Amritpal Singh, lodged with him at Dibrugarh jail in Assam under NSA have announced to contest the upcoming assembly bye-elections in Punjab from Gidderbaha, Barnala and Baba Bakala assembly constituencies.
