An official release said these key announcements emphasized the govt’s commitment to Tamil Nadu's growth. “The chief minister by announcing statements under Rule 110 always maintained in his word and deed that the only aim is Tamil Nadu’s growth," the release said. Rule 110 of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Rules permits a minister to address matters of public importance with the speaker's consent, without any debate at the time of the statement. Following the announcement, floor leaders from various parties and allies have the opportunity to extend their best wishes to the chief minister. This practice, initiated during the tenure of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa, continues to this day.
