Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi over his remarks pointing out BJP leaders like Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari are cordial with him unless the PM is around and said the Constitution has taught him to take the Leader of Opposition “seriously”. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said, “This morning, Rajnath Singh greeted me well but it stops when PM Modi is around... (He becomes) serious, no smile,” the Raebareli MP said. “The same happens with (Nitin) Gadkariji”. He alleged that PM Modi has created a atmosphere of fear among people and his own party members alike. In a sarcastic jibe to Rahul’s remarks, Modi said, “The Constitution, and the democracy, has taught me to take the Leader of Opposition with utmost seriousness.” #WATCH | PM Modi in Lok Sabha, says, “Democracy and the Constitution have taught me that I need to take the Leader of Opposition seriously.” pic.twitter.com/hTjU3mPDPQ — ANI (@ANI) July 1, 2024 The brief conversation came on the heels of the uproar following Rahul’s remarks on Hinduism, wherein he stated that “those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence.”
